AFC Whitchurch 4 - 1 Stanleytown

This week Stanleytown travelled down the A470 to Whitchurch looking to improve on last weeks loss. With a good starting 11 they had every chance of doing so. However this wasn’t the case when the game got underway. Stanleytown soon found themselves 1-0 down after some sloppy play let the Whitchurch striker wriggle free in front of goal and slide the ball past Tom Lewis in goals. This seemed to hit Stanleytown for 6, until they luckily equalised when a spilled cross by Tyrone Jones fell to Martin Jones who tucked the ball away. This should have given Stanleytown the kick they needed to get in to the game, but wasn’t the case, and soon found themselves down 2-1 and 3-1 down after more poor football. With the half time team talk came a switch of formation back to 442, and this seemed to be working with Stanleytown looking the better team after the break but with nothing to show for their efforts. And it was Whitchurch who got the next goal when a free kick was crossed deep into the box and found its way over the keeper and dropped inside the back post to make it 4-1 to Whitchurch. This killed off any hope Stanleytown had of getting back in to the game, and neither team created any real chances for the remainder of the game. Final score Whitchurch 4-1 Stanleytown.

Terrible effort all round this week. Players walking round the field with their heads in the clouds. We aint gonna get given games without putting in any effort and if performances don’t improve from this game we will be playing football in Rhondda league next season!
