Stanleytown travelled to Bridgend this week to play Brackla FC and on the back of a good win against Nelson last week spirits were high and were looking to take all three points and climb up the league.
First half
Town started the brightest and it didn’t take them long to take the lead when Lee (Scab) Bolderson gambled on a ball over the top and it fell kindly to him after a mistake from the Brackla keeper tap in 1-0. Stanleytown continued to press but didn’t really trouble the keeper they almost seemed happy just to play in their own half and this proved a big mistake when Brackla won the ball in the town half and played in their striker who stumbled in the box under a robust challenge from Barrie Jones the ref pointed to the spot a decision that surprised most the travelling players 1-1. things soon got worse for Stanleytown when crazy Gary felt a little light headed which resulted in a substitution with the skilful Joe Eason replacing him just before the end of the half 1-1 half time.
Second Half
Half time substitution Jarrad Davies replaced by young starlet Adam Green. Both sides started well with Daniel Hurton being the busiest of the goal keepers and producing some good saves to keep his side in it Matthew Smith also came close to scoring but the opposing keeper pulled off a great save, Stanleytown took the lead once again half way through the second half when energetic striker Tyrone Jones hard work paid off when he challenged a long ball with the Brackla Keeper who fumbled the ball yet again to give the striker a tap in 2-1 Stanleytown. Yet again Stanleytown took their foot off the gas and invited pressure on themselves and give away a sloppy freekick just outside the box which was executed superbly with both power and precision Daniel Hurton no chance in goal 2-2 this seemed to spur the home side in to life and they immediately got a third with some great play down the right wing they whipped the ball in and the striker finished it off nicely 3-2 with ten mins to play. Stanleytown were staring at defeat and not playing particularly well but were always a threat with Lee Bolderson and Joe Eason on the break and it was Eason who beat the offside trap to find himself one on one with the keeper and took his goal well to tie the game 3-3 final whistle. A poor Display for Stanleytown today and they were fortunate to come away with a point.
